Sunshine & Rainbows – Stampin’ Up! Artisan Blog Hop

In Sunshine and Rainbows by Emma Goddard9 Comments

Welcome to this month Artisan Blog Hop! You may have hopped on over from the lovely Elizabeth Price over in the USA or joined with me, either way a very warm welcome. This month we are featuring Sunshine and Rainbows using the Sunshine and Rainbow Stamp Set and the Rainbow Builder Framelit Dies. You can also purchase these as a bundle and save 10% from the total price.

I started designing these cards by searching for Rainbow colours to see if these was something a little different to inspire me. I found a very pretty cushion on Pinterest and took these colours as my starting point.

The first card I made was this one with the upside down clouds, but I wanted to used them as a pretty scallop edging rather than clouds so turned them upside down when layering them on to the card. I cut the scallops wider than the card front so that I could stagger them and twist them slightly as I added each layer, once happy with them I them trimmed off all the over hanging/ extra card.

To complete this card I have added the Linen Thread, wrapped three times around the card front and tied on the Mini Embroidery Hoop with a bow. I have stamped the 3rd smallest rainbow stamp in Basic Black Archival onto Crumb Cake Cardstock and punch out using the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch

Once punched out I have glued onto the back of the Mini Embroidery Hoop. The next step was to stamp out some flowers and leaves (in Flirty Flamingo and Pear Pizzazz ink) from the Jar of Love set, these have all been die cut and added with some glue dots to the edge of each hoop. To complete I have then added an additional single bow in linen thread on the top of the Mini Embroidery Hoop (with a glue dot) to create the double bow. The Embroidery Hoop has been added in the same way to each of these three cards.

This next card has been made by stamping the same size rainbow stamp in the same way (as above) over the background of the card. I have then simple taken some scraps of these colour cards and cut them to 10.2cm width and various depths to create the stripes. They are all approx 1cm but they are in different sizes.

The final card is made up of two rainbows, they have been stuck together onto a piece of whisper white card as a base and the cut out. You may just about be able to see the join?…. but the idea it that this is hidden by the linen thread so hoping you can’t really notice it. Plus I figure that anyone receiving the card wouldn’t know to look for the join between the two sets of dies.  The background to this card is using one of the Petal Pair Embossing folders which coordinate nicely with the look of the leaf I have used from the Jar of Love.

Next up is the fabulous Jenni Pauli
