There’s something so cosy about a Christmas card that feels a little bit vintage, and this one has all the ingredients: dark wood, old sheet music, fresh green pine and a touch of gold. It came together quicker than you might think, and it’s a lovely way to use up those gorgeous patterned squares.
For the background I’ve paired two Designer Series Papers:
Yuletide Carols 12″ x 12″ DSP: vintage-inspired Christmas carol sheet music with familiar melodies that feel warm and timeless. I used it both as a mat and in strips across the design.
Hearth & Home 12″ x 12″ DSP: some sheets look like a patchwork quilt, made up of patterned squares you can cut apart and use in all sorts of ways. The dark wood square was perfect for this card.

Card base
- A4: 29.7cm x 10.5cm, scored at 14.8cm
- Letter: 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″
Layers
- Dark wood paper (Hearth & Home): 7.5cm x 7.5cm / 3″ x 3″
- Sheet music paper (Yuletide Carols): 8cm x 8cm / 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″
How I Made It
- Add a few splatters of SU100 Deep Stampin’ Blend to the card front for a rustic finish.
- Layer the dark wood square onto the sheet music square, setting it slightly off centre so the music peeks out, then add a couple of thin strips of sheet music across the panel.
- Adhere the panel to the card front, slightly above centre.
- Stamp the pine branches in Mossy Meadow, die cut them, and arrange them in a cluster across the middle of the panel.
- Tuck in loops of gold ribbon (now retired) and linen thread behind the foliage for movement and a bit of sparkle.
- Stamp “Merry Christmas” in Early Espresso, fussy cut it with scissors and pop it on top with dimensionals.
- Finish with three gold dots scattered around the sentiment.
