Floating Panel Card Tutorial

I just love the watercolour look on the designer paper and the colour combination is so pretty. This fun fold allows me to use lots of the designer paper and really let this pretty paper shine!

A handmade floral birthday card with a unique gatefold design. The card features panels decorated with watercolour orange, purple, and white flowers on a white background. The centre panel displays a cluster of coloured flowers in orange and purple, accented with green leaves, a purple ribbon, and a "Happy Birthday" sentiment in elegant script. The card has a dimensional, layered look and is framed in timid tiger cardstock. The creator's watermark, "Emma Goddard | www.coastalcrafter.com," is visible in the bottom right corner.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Cut and score your card base as per diagram
  • Fold up the card into the closed position and then trim the centre section (evenly) to 4” wide
  • Cut and add all the panels of cardstock and designer paper
  • Cut the Basic White panel for the front and back of the centre section.
  • Stamp out the flowers (x1 large and x1 small) onto some scrap Basic White in Memento
  • Colour with Petunia Pop, Timid Tiger and Mossy Meadow Blends. Die cut them out.
  • Die cut out one of each of the leaves (x1 large and x1 small) and add some Mossy Meadow ink with a Blending Brush
  • Add the leaves to the front with a few glue dots and then add the flowers with dimensionals
  • Once this is in place you can then use the bullet tip off the Stampin’ Write Marker to free hand draw a line around the edge.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Memento and cut out, add with some dimensionals
  • Tie a bow and add this with a few glue dots
  • Add the panel to the middle section of the card
  • Add the panel to the back section, this may need a very small trim from the height of this card to make sure it doesn’t catch as this passes through the centre section.
  • Complete the card with some gold sequins.
