Inspire.Create Theme Challenge #003

In Christmas by Emma Goddard8 Comments

Welcome to this weeks Inspire.Create Challenge.

This week the theme challenge is ‘festive’ which I thought would be an easy make but with so many stamp sets, and colours to choose from I wasn’t sure where to start. I love all things Christmas and don’t have ‘go-to’ colour theme when it comes to Christmas cards, which made it all the more difficult to choose! So last week I was keeping an eye out for a little inspiration…..

At the weekend I took my Mum (Anne) out for a little birthday treat – which was yummy! Following this light snack lol!! we went for a walk about the shops and of course had to browse the stationary shops.

It was in here I noticed some of the Christmas cards they had out on display. I always love a little browse of cards and notebooks to get inspiration for colours, patterns, layout, etc and it was here that a navy and gold card caught my eye and gave me the inspiration for these cards I am sharing today.

For the first card I have created a wreath using the branch from the Merry Pattern stamp set, this is an exclusive set for hosting a qualifying workshop. If you’d like to know how you can get your hands on this set you can contact me to find out more.

To create the circle wreath I punched out a circle from scrap and used this as a guide to stamp the branch around. I used versa mark to stamp out the complete wreath and then embossed in gold. The sentiment is also from this set and embossed in gold too. The little gem ornament dangling from the sentiment is from the You’re Priceless set (One of my favourite from the main catalogue). I embossed the little gems in gold on white card stock, and coloured in Night of Navy with a blender pen. Once coloured I have then fussy cut out and added to the card.

The second card is also using the branch from the Merry Patterns set and has been stamped in Old Olive first and then a third layer in versamark and gold embossed. The ‘string’ for the gems to dangle from is the string from the Balloon Celebration set but you could draw these by hand in black fine line pen if you didn’t have this or didn’t want to emboss this part.

As well as sharing these cards for the Inspire.Create Challenge design team, I am also entering this card into to this weeks Merry Monday challenge,  where there theme is to add an ornament to your card.

We would love you to play along with us at the Inspire.Create Challenge if you are feeling festive…Good luck!
