Stampin’ Creative – Leaves and Trees

In Autumn/Winter Catalogue, Stampin' Up! by Emma Goddard10 Comments

Welcome to this months Stampin’ Creative Blog hop!

Stampin' Creative Blog Hop

This months theme is ‘Leaves and Trees’, straight away I knew I wanted to make something with Autumn Colours and was originally thinking about creating some cards with the very lovely Sheltering Tree, however I really wanted to use ‘Vintage Leaves’. This has been on my wish list for ages but only very recently purchased it, in fact I wasn’t actually sure it would be here in time to create something for this hop!? as it only arrived 2 days ago. So this was made yesterday – just in time to share with you all!

The leaves have been stamped in Basic Black onto the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper (DSP) Stack, there are lots of colours within this DSP, but the designs I have chosen are in Old Olive & Delightful Dijon which I thought was a good look for the Autumn leaf adding a little texture rather than just using plain cardstock.

I then cut out the leaves using the matching framelits, however this could be done by hand if you didn’t have the dies. Hopefully you can see in the photos that I have then used my sewing machine to add some extra texture by sewing the leaves onto the card. The stitched look / stitching is a real trend right now – more on this later!

Once I had sewn then onto the card I added a very thin outline of tombow to the end of the card and then sprinkled with Gold Stampin’ Glitter. I personally love using glitter and really don’t mind that my black kitchen floor now is ready for Christmas (as are my cats LOL!!!) I really like the fact the extra glitter clings to other parts of the card or leaf, however if you are not a glitter fan you could use the Dazzling Details as an alternative to get a similar look.

The random splatters on the back ground have been created with Gold Wink of Stella – I have made sure there is a good amount of ink in the paint brush/nib and then held the back of the brush and tapped the barrel to splatter the ink (make sure you have a mat or something under/around your card as the ink doesn’t only go on your card! but gives a great look, why not give it a try?

Next up is the very talented Mikaela, be sure to hop on over from here to she what she has in store for you today.

  7. Love the way you used these stamps. I would also like to see a picture of your swap cards that you did for Telford. I caught a glimpse on Jan B’s swap video this morning, that’s how I found your blog! Would love to have a picture I could pin. Thanks
