Stampin’ Up! Corporate Blog_Beauty Abounds

Hello everyone! I am so excited to share with you this coordinating card and box using the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies (#148536) There are so many beautiful butterflies in these dies! They can of course be kept as a whole piece or simply snipped apart and used as lots of separate elements on your projects.

For this card and box, I have used a combination of Smoky Slate Cardstock (#131291), Basic Gray Cardstock (#121689), Shimmery White Cardstock (#121727)and Champagne Foil (#144748).

The first step was to watercolour the shimmery white card stock with both Smoky Slate Ink (#131159)and Gray Granite Ink (#147171)using the Aqua Painters (#103954). I firstly added a water background and the added some drops of inks. This was set to one side to then dry.

The next step was to die cut a selection of butterflies in a mix of the cardstocks. You can mix and match your own chosen layers using the Basic Gray, Smoky Slate and Champagne Foil, I have glued these together with the multipurpose glue, but mini glue dots would also work well.

The card base is cut to 8” x 7-3/4” (Scored at 3-7/8”) or 19.7cm x 20.3cm (Scored at 9.8cm). The first layer is cut to 3-3/4” x 7-7/8” or 9.5cm x 19.9cm. The Shimmery White layer is cut to 3-5/8” x 7-3/4” or 9cm x 19.4cm.

The sentiment is from the En Route Stamp Set (#146594), I just love the sentiments in this set, they are perfect for congratulations themed cards or memory keeping pages or albums. I have stamped this in the Basic Gray and mounted on some Champagne Foil.

Once you background is fully dry you can then layer on all of your butterfly elements.

This box is decorated in exactly the same way as the card to coordinate.

The measurements for the box are:

The Base:  7-15/16” x 7-15/16” scored at 2” on all the edges i.e. an 8” x 8” piece of cardstock with a ‘smidge’ off two of the sides

The Lid: 7” x 7” and scored at 1” on each edge.

I have absolutely loved sharing these with you and hope I have inspired you to make some butterfly projects of your own, Emma xo
