Welcome to the Build and Bloom Blog Hop. For this blog hop we are all being inspired by a great sketch layout, and for my card I have focused on watercolouring and Two Tone cardstock.
Both watercolouring and the Two Tone cardstock are great ways to add different various (or values) of colour to your projects or cards.
Sketch Inspiration
This is the Sketch which inspired my card, sketches are such a great jumping off point for inspiration especially when you are not sure what to create. You can follow them really closely, but can also use creative licence to swap orientation, shapes etc to make the sketch your own.
How to create this card
- Stamp the large Coneflower, leaves and stem images with Versamark onto watercolour cardstock and heat emboss in white WOW Powder.
- Use the Strawberry Slush and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers to add a touch of colour to the areas you want the shading and pull down the ink colour with a paint brush and a touch of water.
- Once dry, die cut / cut out the images and set to one side.
- Cut and score your card base and layer and add these to the front of you card.
- Grab another piece of watercolour cardstock the same height has the Strawberry Slush layer (14.5cm) and wider than 4.5cm (6-8cm approx).
- Paint on the Strawberry Slush watercolour stripes with a wide brush.
- Once dry, trim this panel to 4.5cm wide, and add this to the front of your card.
- Add your large flower, stem and leaves using dimensionals.
- Stamp the ‘Celebrating You’ sentiment with Versamark onto the darker tone of the Strawberry Slush Two-tone cardstock and heat emboss with white WOW powder.
- Trim out and add to the front with dimensionals.
- Complete your card with a few Pretty In Pink In Colour Dots. I decided to use the lighter tone of dots to coordinates with the lighter watercolouring of the Strawberry Slush, but Strawberry Slush dots would work perfectly too!
Measurements
- Cardbase – Thick Basic White – 21cm x 14.8cm Scored at 10.5cm
- 1st Layer – Strawberry Slush Dark Two Tone – 14.5cm x 10.2cm
- 2nd Layer – Basic White – 12.8cm x 8.8cm
- 3rd Layer – Strawberry Slush Lighter Two Tone -12.5cm x 8.5cm
- 4th Layer – Watercolour Cardstock for Stripes – 14.5cm x 4.5cm
