Yesterday on my weekly Sunday live I created these two cards using the upcoming Beautiful Thistle Bundle. My lovely Mum is from Aberdeen and so I couldn’t resist purchasing this bundle.
For the first card I really wanted to just focus on how lovely the Thistle is and have this as the focus point of the card.
The background was embossed using the Quatrefoil Embossing Folder, and I have used the ‘de-bossed’ side for a more subtle texture. Also, if you caught the live or re-watch the replay you know I decided the Balmy Blue colour on the other side was too heavy, so I turned it over and used the over side. A happy accident!
The Thistle has been coloured in Light Old Olive Blend with the Garden Green Watercolour pencil for shading. The top of the thistle has been coloured in Fresh Fresh with a touch of Light Polished Pink.
This new bundle has coordinating die, so I was able to run this through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with the outline die.
Next up was a card for the more Avid Crafter, this kind of evolved as I was making it and so has a number of stamps, techniques and layers.
The background was stamped with the Snow Crystal Background Stamp in both Balmy Blue and Orchid Oasis. The next step was to blend over the top with Balmy Blue and Orchid Oasis Ink to create an ombre effect. I then fished this off with a splatter of White Craft Ink for extra snow!
Next up was the flowers and Thistle. The flowers & foliage are from the stamp set True Beauty, and these have been stamped in a mix of Orchid Oasis, Starry Sky and Soft Succulent Inks.
The Thistle was stamped in Memento and coloured with Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, and Orchid Oasis Blends and then die cut out.
These have all been layered together with a touch of extra Shimmer Paste for good measure lol! and to complete both cards I have added some Pastel Adhesive Sequins for a little sparkle.
If you’d like to see exactly how these cards were made you can watch the replay here.
