This month the Be Inspired Team is sharing background techniques, and I couldn’t be more excited. Large background stamps, stamped and watercoloured backgrounds, and embossing all give a card so much depth, and the possibilities are endless. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the team has created.

How I Created This Background
My background was made by stamping the image from Echoes of Details multiple times in Smoky Slate ink. I then blended the same ink around the edges to add extra depth. This layered stamping technique is a simple way to build a soft, textured background without any extra products.
Building the Focal Flower with Sweetly Sentimental
This circle from the Spotlight on Nature Dies is a brilliant basic shape, and alongside the Stylish Shape Dies, it’s one of the most used dies in my craft room!
The beautiful flower is from the Sweetly Sentimental Stamp Set [170050]. This set can be purchased as part of a Hot Foiling Bundle, saving you 10%, but it also works beautifully as a standalone stamp set, if you don’t have the hot foiling system.
The flower was stamped out in Smoky Slate ink and coloured with Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends.

Finishing Touches: Sentiment and Alternatives
I love the shine that foiling adds, but there are easy alternatives if you don’t have the Hot Foiling System. You could stamp your sentiment in Smoky Slate, or heat emboss it in gold for a similar touch of gold.

I am now sending you on over to the lovely Lynn Cheesmur who I know will have a wonderfuls project in store for you. Simply click on the button below to hop on over to her blog and use the Blog Hop Buttons to follow the hop around to see everyones creations – Enjoy!
