Citrus Blooms

In Watercolour by Emma GoddardLeave a Comment

This week on my live I created these two cards using the Citrus Blooms Bundle. The first card-base was inspired by a swap card I received from Stacey Marsh, and it used the large label die from the bundle to create the card base – so cool!

I cut a front panel in Watercolour card stock and painted on the strips with the largest water brush and Blueberry Bushel Ink. Once dry I have added some extra texture with the background stamp in the set.

I have tied some Peach Pie ribbon around the front of the card into a bow and added a large circle from the Spotlight on Nature dies with dimensionals.

The foliage is from the Citrus Blooms dies and has been die cut from Basic White. To add texture behind the main image. The oranges have been coloured in Pumpkin Pie, Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight Blends and I have completed the card with a few Peach Pie In-Color Resin Dots.

I made this background twice on my live, because I made an inky error! I firstly stamped in Memento (a water based ink) added all the blending, & then went to finish off the background with a water droplet effect, however, due to the ink I had used, the water made the black lines run and go all splodgy! Which wasn’t so pretty. So, if you are recreating this card you can do one of two things…don’t add the water splatters or make sure you use Staz-On Ink. This is an alcohol based ink and won’t move with the water splatters.

Second time around I used Staz-On and it worked great, I love the effect that adding water droplets to a background creates.

I wanted the background to be the star of the show, so I simply added a heat embossed sentiment and a touch of Peach Pie Glimmer for a touch of sparkle!
